Today I am writing a article on comparison between Sony Xperia S and Sony Xperia SL.
This article will help in deciding which phone to buy and save few bucks on smartphones.
Sony Xperia S was launched long back around June 2012 and did carry a high end hardware.
It costed around ~Rs 31,000/- at launch and immediately a price drop to ~Rs 29,000/- till some days back and now to ~Rs 26,000/- exactly Rs 25, 990/- on Flipkart.
Sony Xperia SL was launched back around September 2012 carried same extended hardware with few upgradation adn modification ~Rs 31,000/- and currently carrying a price ~Rs 28,000/- exactly Rs 27,990/- on flipkart.
Though both the phones are doing good in the market there is not much difference in the hardware except for few. I am going to describe the variation in the hardware in this two phones.
Giving credits and high recommendation to flipkart comparison service.
To Start with some basic features between the two:
Price:
Currently Sony Xperia S comes under the price tag of Rs 25,990/- and Sony Xperia SL under price tag of Rs 27,990/- So difference of amount is Rs 2,000/- not much(ahhh…).
Accessories:
Most of the accessories are same in both the packaged handset, but Sony Xperia S comes bundled with HDMI cable but Sony Xperia SL doesn’t contain it. Xperia SL does contain a separate data cable along with separate charger where as Xperia S has a common data cable and charger
General Specification:
No Difference at all, both have same looks and features, except that Xperia SL is also available in Grey color as well
Processor:
This is major differential point,
Xperia S comes with 1.5 GHz dual core processor and Xperia SL comes with 1.7 GHz dual core processor.
Graphics:
Both the phones are supported by Adreno 220
Operating System:
Xperia S comes pre-loaded with Android 2.3 Ginger bread which is upgradable where as Xperia SL comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Both supports Timescape UI and operating frequency is also same
Display:
Here also you will see no difference at all.
Both have 4.3″ capacitive touch screen with resolution of 1280 x 720 Full HD having 16M colors
Camera:
Again no difference at all
Rear camera 12.1 megapixel with LED flash and front camera 1.3 megapixel.
Rear camera supports full HD quality recording
Dimension:
Again no difference at all, 64 x 128 x 10.6 mm weighing 144 gms
Battery:
Again no difference at all, having Li-Ion, 1750 mAh battery
Memory and Storage:
Again no difference at all, having 32GB (26 GB User Memory) for storage and no expandable slot.
1GB of RAM for processing
Connectivity:
There is no much difference in both the phones related to connectivity and data browsing. Just one small difference Xperia S has Bluetooth v 2.1 and Xperia SL has v3
Multimedia:
Again no difference at all
Conclusion: So as you can see there is no much difference in the two phones, except for few.
Now which one to buy,
If you are a user for short term using go for Xperia S as you save 2K for now and when you select other phones which would carry the differential features.
If you are planning to buy and use it for some period go for Xperia SL.
Thanks for this So good comparision,
I think S should be good Deal, but still one can go for SL by investing some 2K more.
Thanks Murtaza Ali for reviewing the article
Yes I personally feel any one should go for SL, and in local market the difference would not be even 2K

They are both very stylish devices however a bit overrated. Google’s Nexus 4 is a better alternative (for me). Thanks for sharing, Sahil!
I do agree Google Nexus 4 is good option on same price range with benefits of 2GB RAM, Gorilla Glass Display, bigger screen.
I just love Sony products, last year I purchased Xperia Neo V and until now it is working like a charm. This days Sony is just copying what Samsung is doing, They are lunching different products but without changing the looks of the device.
Yes, bro you are right, sony products are gr8
Even I would opt for sony
